Meeting with President Kenyatta

July 2012

Rumi Verjee is deeply rooted in East Africa: he was born in Uganda and raised in Kenya. He has long dreamed of returning to East Africa to help to support and develop the places in which he was a child. He met with President Kenyatta to discuss a range of blue-sky ideas about how he could contribute back to the country. By using the Foundation’s global connections and the entrepreneurial spirit of its founder, Lord Verjee explained that the Foundation is especially keen to help in any way it can to help develop the Silicon Savannah project, creating a Silicon Valley at the heart of a rising Africa, and to continue supporting the Starehe school that has been one of the beneficiaries of the Foundation.
