Meeting with The Rev Jesse Jackson
Lord Verjee attended a dinner on equality in civil society to commemorate the 50 anniversary of Martin Luther King’s ‘I have a Dream’ speech. Reverend Jackson – a close personal friend and confidante of Dr King – was Guest of Honour. The dinner was held in the State Rooms in the Speaker’s House at the House of Commons.
The Rumi Foundation’s core mission is to promote equality and opportunities for everyone, regardless of their background or minority status, so Lord Verjee was delighted to take part in this dinner, and to be reminded once again of the most eloquent call for equality and freedom in the twentieth century.
