Clinton
Foundation
The Rumi Foundation has worked on a truly inspiring array of initiatives with the Clinton Foundation since we first moved to partner projects together all the way back in 2012. At our inaugural event hosted on his behalf, President Clinton presented the work of the Clinton Foundation to 90 of the UK’s leading entrepreneurs, politicians, chief executives and philanthropists; all invited by The Rumi Foundation with the express intention of having them become more involved in helping those less fortunate, both in their own communities and all around the world.

In June 2013, The Rumi Foundation hosted a second event in London for President Clinton and presented our shared vision for how the two foundations would work together on projects in Africa.

The reach and remit of the Clinton Foundation is both broad and proven; with a focus towards improving global health, strengthening economies, promoting healthier childhoods, and protecting the environment by fostering partnerships among governments, businesses, nongovernmental organisations, and private citizens to turn good intentions into measurable results.

In August 2013 Lord Verjee was proud to spend eight days in Africa with President Bill Clinton and Chelsea Clinton, visiting five different countries and experiencing a broad range of issues that would serve to inform the Foundation’s work across all of the years since. Following this fact-finding mission, in October of the same year, The Rumi Foundation invited guests to join us in London for a working lunch – the first time that President Bill Clinton, Hilary Rodham Clinton and Chelsea Clinton had ever been hosted all together in the UK – with the goal being to highlight some of the key challenges being addressed by the Clinton Foundation in Africa; discussing in particular, issues of health, education, economic growth and equal opportunities for women.
In May 2015 Lord Verjee again accompanied President Clinton on a week long trip to Tanzania and Kenya and followed this up by hosting a debriefing in London in June to promote the global impact of Clinton Foundation’s work internationally.

In October 2017 the Foundation hosted President Clinton once more so that those that have supported us over the years might enjoy an opportunity to review all that has been achieved. Across all of these years the Clinton Foundation and The Rumi Foundation have shared both friendship and a common vision, and we have been especially proud to showcase our work together supporting the Clinton Foundation-backed Building Tomorrow programme. Building Tomorrow builds schools in rural and poorly connected areas of East Africa and as a direct result of this initiative, young people now get the education they need to develop and grow; and which they might never have had access to otherwise.
