In October 2019, The Rumi Foundation celebrated UN International Day of the Girl at the Inspiring Girls Global Summit.
Inspiring Girls International connects young girls from around the world with female role models, raising aspirations and exposing them to a broad range of careers and options in life.
The summit, hosted at Google’s London headquarters, brought together local schoolgirls with a host of influential female figures for interviews, networking and discussions.
The event also saw the launch of the Inspiring Girls Online Hub, where girls are be able to access a growing collection of video interviews with successful women from the comfort of their homes and classrooms, regardless of location or background. Schools will also be able to arrange live-streamed talks with the world’s most renowned female thought leaders.
Lord Verjee and Inspiring Girls Founder, Miriam Gonzalez Durantez joined broadcaster Mishal Husain, classicist Dame Mary Beard, UNICEF Ambassador Muzoon Almellehan, leader of the Liberal Democrats Jo Swinson MP, campaigner Nimco Ali OBE, Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg, former Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard, and Chair of Santander, Ana Botin.
The Rumi Foundation is proud to support the work of Inspiring Girls, ensuring future generations of young women can dare to think big and are backed by the support and resources to fulfil their true potential.
